This will be Sprouts’ 400th store. Founded and headquartered in Arizona, the chain entered New Jersey in 2019 with a market in Marlton. Sprouts also plans to open stores in Washington Township in Gloucester County and Aberdeen on the Jersey Shore.
Sprouts in Haddon Township will operate at 640 W Cuthbert Blvd.
There will be special events and giveaways to celebrate that include:
- Four lucky shoppers will win a $100 Sprouts gift card and on Saturday, the first 400 shoppers will receive a $10 Sprouts gift card
- Free signed hard copies of Danny Seo’s cookbook, "Naturally, Delicious Dinners"
- Free hotdog lunch will be given out on Friday
- A fruit education center
- Carving of over-sized produce
- Kids’ activities and games
According to its website, Sprouts opened its first store in 2002 in an effort to make fresh, organic foods less expensive or difficult to find.
"We wanted to be different!" the website says. "No more weaving through a maze of narrow aisles without anyone offering to help. No more ingredient lists featuring 40 unpronounceable chemicals. And most of all, no more spending an entire paycheck for food from the honest effort of a farmer — not a factory."
However, some farmers say the chain's use of the label "farmers market" is misleading because all the produce doesn't come directly from local farmers.
